Hard hitting death metal merging the world of desolation and aggression together into a potent slab of heaviness. There is a nuanced dissonance and technicality that is weaved thought moments of crushing brutality.
The atmospheric qualities baked into the tracks give a touch of a reprieve from the onslaught, but it makes the immense vocals hit all the much harder. Creative songwriting and structure also ensure nothing gets ground down too much under the weight.

For me, this is a real trip. Combining the sonic desolation of Gorguts with an absolutely jawdropping vocal style and creative death metal, Writhing makes an impressive slab of technical workmanship. By taking a unique spin on how they approach death metal, it allows Of Earth & Flesh to be an intoxicating ride, one I hope they make more of. Absolutely incredible work fellas, keep it up!
Favorite track: Squalid Sanctum.

Australian Death Metal 4-pieces Writhing is finally back with the highly anticipated debut album 'Of Earth & Flesh', 8 new tracks expanding the ideas already heard in the demo and incorporating even more US death metal influence as well as more atmospheric parts!
Writhing was created in 2019 by Joel (guitars) and Pat (vocals). The pair had formed a bond through their previous bands As Flesh Decays and Rituals playing numerous shows together.
The goal was to combine suffocating heaviness and dissonant atmospherics, while still paying homage to their early death metal influences (Cannibal Corpse, Incantation, Morbid Angel etc).
After the addition of Jackson on bass, Writhing released the 'Eternalised In Rot' demo in 2020 receiving international acclaim and quickly making them a "band to watch in 2021 and beyond".
Jake (Truth Corroded, Whoretopsy) officially joined the ranks in 2022 for the release of the upcoming debut album, due in September through Everlasting Spew Records.
For fans of Tomb Mold, Skeletal Remains, Adramelech, Undeath.

An outstanding Extreme doom death album, in the best tradition. The funerary atmosphere reminds of Evoken ('Centuries of ooze" bears striking similarities, for my delight).
