bmurator The clash of the vocals... I think Atavisma win, but only just. Two absolutely, stunningly amazing bands. Could not recommend this split more! Favorite track: Dread.

fyeahmetal This is a great split showcasing 2 different takes on cavern death metal, both eschewing the usual morass of low end. Atavisma have this skronky, crawling, droning thing going on that's addictive once you get into it. Void Rot turn up the doom here and make like a more disciplined Incantation, with VR's trademark eerie guitar countermelodies wafting above. Favorite track: Accursed Earth.

bcb723 Both bands just destroy here. Atavisma is fantastically heavy and made me run to catch up on their back catalog. Void Rot... is Void Rot. One of the top new bands around, their songs make you a believer upon first listen. The fact that they released both this and the equally great "Descending Pillars" in the same year gives you some insight into the level of superiority this band is currently at. Trying to think of a stronger split for 2020...hmm. Favorite track: Necrotic Deity.

Sonny92 A split featuring two of death doom's greatest underrated bands. I have been a big fan of Atavisma and their abyssal doom of death for some time now. The three tracks featured here marry an old-school death metal vibe and the frenchmen's signature, "rotting-corpse-stench" doom metal to whet the appetite of any ultra-morbid doomster.
Void Rot I am less familiar with, but are very much in a similar vein albeit a little more uptempo. Favorite track: Dread.

Darknight Superb split, both bands showcase the death and darkened metal. Atavisma bring death metal into new territory but its Void Rot who really blacken the skies with there scorching darkened sludge driven metal. Horns high for the mighty Void Rot!! Favorite track: Necrotic Deity.

Atavisma & Void Rot, two of the strongest and youngest entities in Death/Doom right now join forces in a vortex of Death and Darkness and prepare the field for the release of their respective full albums.

Atavisma was formed in 2013 by G. and L. After the first demos and intense tour activity between France and Spain the band entered the studio to record their debut album "The Chtonic Rituals".
The band, strongly influenced by the old school swedish sound and the riffage of the NYDM scene, add to the mix their own take of doom and dissonances to create an unique sound and dreadful sonic landscapes.

Void Rot from Minneapolis MN, USA, formed in 2017 with influences from the glorious progenitors of majestic, atmospheric and slow moving death metal like Winter, Rippikoulu and diSEMBOWELMENT, as well as newer entries within the genre such as Krypts, Spectral Voice and Sempiternal Dusk. Void Rot weave light and darkness seamlessly and with unseen mastery, evoking atmospheres of unparalleled vastness that alternate majestically between sidereal and contemplative psychedelia, and visceral and bludgeoning heaviness.
